Surgery Coordinator

Surgery Coordinator – Full-Time Position – Raleigh Location-Hybrid Schedule

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and organized Surgery Coordinator to join our fast-paced medical practice. This role is essential in ensuring timely scheduling of surgical procedures, accurate insurance pre-certifications, and seamless coordination between patients, providers, and surgical facilities.

This is a hybrid position, requiring three (3) days per week in our Raleigh office and two (2) remote workdays. In-office days follow a rotating schedule model determined by management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule surgical procedures by coordinating with providers, patients, and facilities
  • Ensure surgeries are scheduled within 48 hours of order receipt
  • Confirm all required procedure details (equipment, timing, anesthesia, location, etc.)
  • Communicate with patients regarding scheduling, instructions, and updates
  • Coordinate with facilities and notify ancillary providers of surgery logistics
  • Verify insurance eligibility and obtain pre-certifications for all surgeries or retro-authorizations when necessary
  • Document scheduling and authorization details accurately in the EMR
  • Communicate authorization status and resolve insurance-related issues
  • Collaborate with clinical teams and staff to ensure accurate and timely scheduling
  • Maintain surgery logs and respond to facility inquiries
  • Escalate issues and support overall workflow efficiency

What You Bring:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical insurance, billing, or surgery scheduling required
  • Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding
  • Strong understanding of insurance authorization requirements and medical documentation
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer systems and data entry
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, and team members
