Medical Assistant – Urgent Care

Medical Assistant – Urgent Care – Full-Time Position – Garner Location

We’re seeking a dependable and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our Orthopaedic Urgent Care team. In this fast-paced environment, you’ll assist providers with patient evaluations, support urgent care procedures, and deliver hands-on patient care and education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and room patients, obtain chief complaint, vital signs, and document accurately
  • Assist providers with patient evaluations, urgent care procedures, and exams
  • Identify and communicate abnormal findings or changes in patient condition
  • Apply casts, splints, and wraps; perform wound care and dressing changes
  • Remove sutures/staples and provide patient education on injury care and recovery
  • Prepare and administer injections under provider supervision
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals, and follow-up care
  • Document patient communications, clinical notes, and orders in the EHR
  • Support patient flow in a high-volume urgent care setting, including managing wait times and expectations
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain clinical equipment and treatment areas
  • Stock exam rooms and ensure clinical supplies are readily available
  • Assist with training and onboarding of urgent care staff as needed
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and clinic safety protocols

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced clinical setting
  • Strong critical thinking and organizational skills
  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication
  • Experience in applying casts/splints and administering injections preferred
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records systems a plus
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work with a sense of urgency
  • Reliable follow-through to support team workflow and deadlines

Schedule:

  • Full-time, 12-hour shifts
  • Evenings and weekend coverage required based on clinic needs
